I'm back, sorta

I'm back. More or less. I don't know how much the Human Assistant will feel like helping me blog. But there's today, anyway.

I know it's been six months! But not much has happened. Really. Today I found a new roll of toilet paper and chewed up about half of it.

But that's no big deal. Except that it's about the third time that the Human Assistant has left one in reach lately when I've been bored.

He was outside playing with one of his little computers. Dumb. Because it's hot out there. So I had to find something to do inside.

H.A. hasn't wanted to write about the more important stuff. Like Sinjin being gone.

One weekend his spondylosis just got too bad. First he couldn't stand up but he could walk if H.A. helped him up. Then he couldn't stay standing up by himself. And he was in lots of pain.

So that Monday he took one last trip to the vet.

Sinjin's spine was already hurting when he first came here. But he hung in there and annoyed me for a year and a week. Of course, I got to annoy him for a year and a week too.

And you remember our friend Minky? She left notes here a couple of times. And she let me interview her a while back.

But Minky didn't make it through the winter. She had had new-monia way back, too. Like I did, I guess. I think she got sick because of breathing trouble again. I heard her humans were giving her oxygen, anyway.

So, well, it's hot and I can't think of any more to say. I'll have H.A. write again when I think of some stuff.

Same ol' same ol'

Nothing new is actually happening. All us guys are having breathing problems. But it's the same old stuff.

I started snorking a few days ago. Breathing in real hard through my nose. To make it easier to breathe. But I guess the new monia I had when I got here made it so that doesn't work.

So the Human Assistant is giving me my usual medicine for it. And it's making me my usual hungrier. So I claw H.A. more while he's at the computer. But it's working! Sinjin and I are getting more treats!

I guess Sinjin's stuffed head is draining down his throat. He's doing throat clearing again. Every once in a while. He goes,  GAAAAAAAACK!  He sounds like a human when he starts out. It freaks out H.A. 'cause there aren't supposed to be any other humans in the house.

And the H.A.'s head fills up when he lies down. I don't understand how that works. But it makes it hard for him to breathe through his nose. It wakes him up sometimes.

But that's just the same old stuff. Like I said.

He called MaxFund today to find out about Alizé. They called her spa and called him back.

Everything's pretty much the same. Her blood is still too sweet. And they haven't spadeded her yet. Or whatever it is they're going to do to her. It's been more than a week and a half! What's wrong with that girl  Let's get with the program!

So the news is that there's no news. Boooooring!

Fly, flu!

It's boring around here. The Human Assistant decided to get flu symptoms Friday morning.

He's been feeding us. But he says he can't stand up long enough to give us our medi-treats. And he hasn't gone anywhere. So we don't get our here's-a-treat-let-me-out-the-door goodies.

Sinjin did a horka to show that his tummy was empty. I tore up an envelope.

I didn't eat all of it. I usually don't. I was more bored than hungry, really. The H.A. picked up the pieces and went back to bed. So I got another one.

second envelope torn up by Tucker
Envelope #2
Sinjin eats some envelope
Sinjin tries a sample

I was glad to see that Sinjin tried some too. Not that he tore one up for himself. But he has possibilities. There's a little black fur in the background of the picture. Lucy didn't eat any of the envelope.

But I let them try some if they wanted. Then I plopped back down again.

Tucker lies down with envelope pieces
Let's see now....
Tucker looks up after eating a piece
What?

Then H.A. decided we'd better get our medi-treats after all. Gremlin gets pretty annoying when I don't get my Pregna-Zone.

So I guess H.A. is feeling a little better. He wants to eat something but he doesn't know what. We don't care! Just pick something so we can have some too!

But he always thinks that maybe he's sick from food. Or that food will make things worse. Sheesh! How could food make anything worse

Anyway. What else? Mika and Scooby were adopted Friday. So I can stop worrying about the thing Khyra was thinking about.

That's all for now. I hope something interesting happens now!

Having a new route(r) without kids

Sinjin and internet router
"Reporting from the Internet!"
Sinjin here!

Reporting from the drop, the place at the end of the fiber-optic cable where the rubber (or whatever) meets the road (or internet highway).

I made Tucker let me blog because he's jumped me a few times and knocked me on my back and made me screech.

The Big Guy says Tucker doesn't feel so good lately because he took T-Bob off Prednisone. Does he ever get crabby! (Tucker, that is.)

But Tucker said for me to go ahead and blog, he doesn't care. (::sulk sulk::) So I am.

A few days ago the internet stopped working. Big Guy thought he hadn't paid the bill, so he hurried up and called them and paid it over the phone. (Thank dog the phones haven't been shut off!)

But that wasn't it. So he used his rusted-out skills as a former networks taker-care-of-person and figured out that our router was kinda broken.

The power supply fell apart before I came here. But somedoggy (♮ ♩ ♫  T, U, C ... See you real soon!  K, E, R ....  ) musta stepped on it or rolled on it or somehow broke a wire.

(The wi-fi antenna was also chewed up, but it still worked.)

old router and power supply
Busted wire, pathetic antenna.
broken wire and worn antenna
See

Now if one of his kids had been here, they coulda just soldered the wire back on! They're studying electronics for their job, and soldering is one of their classes right now.

Well, the Big Guy took the dead router outta there and tried to go straight from the cable modem to the computer. Nothin'. Rebooted the computer. More nothin'.

Not nothin' exactly, but not internet either. Iceweasel (which is Debian's version of Firefox ... it's a long story) kept saying it couldn't find any of the servers for the websites we wanted to see.

So B.G. grumbled and mumbled and went and bought a new router. It's behind me in that first picture up there, still in its box.

When he got home, he talked to his other kid (who was just a computer taker-care-of-person and is now a computer-and-networks taker-care-of-person), who told him all he needed to do was reboot the cable modem.

DOH!

Well ha, ha. It still didn't work. So he rebooted the computer again and now everything worked. Without the new router, even.

mr_ed:  A free tip on how to be your own computer-and/or-networks taker-care-of-person, retail value in the hundreds of dollars:
Turn the power off;
Wait 10 seconds;
Turn the power on.

By non-actual count, this makes 85% of all computer-and/or-network problems go away. It's the first and most valuable lesson in all online and correspondence courses for becoming computer-and/or-networks taker-care-of-people.

The fancy new router is still sitting in its unopened plastic-wrapped box. B.G. thinks maybe the next time the second kid comes over, he'll twist an arm or two and get a free installation.

We'll see!

Lucy's week

I don't know why the Human Assistant hasn't had much time to help with the blog lately. Too much shopping, maybe. Two or three times to get medicine for himself. A couple of times to get medicine for dogs. Green beans for me. Diet Coke for him. I dunno.

Anyway. All of a sudden people are asking about Lucy! Thinking they may want to adopt her from MaxFund. We got four emails about her this past week! And one or maybe two phone calls!

I mentioned last time that Lucy went to visit one set of people. Haven't heard back from them. But she's going to visit another set today (Sunday).

We'll see if anything happens. Maybe they won't adopt her because she needs a bath! H.A. has been putting that off. And now MaxFund's main volunteer groomer is on vacation.

So like I said, we'll see.

Guess what? We had a heat wave Saturday! It's been getting warmer and warmer the last few days. But Saturday it was 74°!!! That's the hottest it's been in Denver on March 1 in 136 years! Which is all they have records for.

Guess what else? There's a 90% chance of snow on Sunday!

Of course Lucy was outside looking for neighborcat. We decided that that's who she's hunting. She actually saw him in our yard a few days ago. She can run pretty fast for being short! But the cat was right next to the fence. zwooop! and it was gone.

So here are pictures of Lucy hunting neighborcat in the record heat wave.

Lucy in bushes, close-up
Lucy tracks neighborcat!
Lucy in bushes, long view
On the beaten path.
Lucy looking away from bushes
"Not now, I'm busy!"
Lucy, Sinjin look but Gremlin doesn't
Not all are vigilant.

Yes, I poked around too. Lucy gets so into it that I have to check on what she's doing. But I wandered off before H.A. got the camera fired up.

I'm still not feeling so good. I stopped coughing because H.A. gave me a couple of doses of pregna-zone. Maybe I have a little fever. All I know is that sinus massages sure felt good today! I'm gonna finish up with the pills from the dokker's Auntie Bio-Tic.

I wonder if one of Granny's potions or poultices would work better?

Anyway. That's all for now!

Pack news

Tucker:  Let's start with news about me! My cough is a little worse. Especially at night. BUT! I get more treats! The Human Assistant will explain the medical stuff.

mr_ed:  I weaned Tucker off prednizone lately, so I expected some coughing due to leftover stuff from his old pneumonia and eosinophilic infiltration.

But his white blood cell count was up at his routine exam last week, suggesting an infection. So Dr. Pasek prescribed an antibiotic. Liver was showing up too, so two supplements for that. That's 7 pills - I mean, additional treats - per day for him.

Plus two of the big marshmallow-sized chewable joint-support supplements that everydoggy started getting after Gremlin's appointment. Tucker thinks he hit the doggy version of a Las Vegas jackpot! But he's gotten super crabby, as he does when the respiratory problems flare up.

Sinjin had a routine appointment, too. Liver also elevated and thyroid is borderline, possibly explaining the rough wiriness of his coat along his spine. Haven't talked with the vet since those results came back, but probably supplements for his liver too plus maybe a trial on thyroid med.

Tucker:  Sinjin! What a loud-mouth! He barks when he wants out. Barks when he wants in. Barks when he wants food. Barks when he wants treats. Doesn't woo. Whines. And makes his lower jaw quiver.

I heard he was a real pain at the dokker's office. He screamed like a baby! And they had to stick him for blood four times because he jumped when they got the sticker in just the right place.

Even Lucy gets tired of Sinjin's barking! She growled at him the other day. Another time I thought she was gonna rip into him when the H.A. was playing grab paws with him and Sinjin started grabbing H.A.'s hand. Wooo-eee! H.A. had to calm her down!

She went for a ride Wednesday. Her first visit with anybody who might want to adopt her. H.A. says she'd be a good dog for them. I'd rather get rid of Sinjin, but....

Gremlin is doing pretty good. She's just finishing up medicine for her bladder. And she can pretty much walk around the house and yard anywhere she wants to go. The three steps to come into the house are a little hard for her. So it's not like everything is super-duper.

As for newcomers, the 20 won't be coming from New Mexico. H.A. says most of them were puppies, anyway. Pups are so popular that none of 'em would have got this far. I guess the grown-ups also found places. They were all rescued from a hoarder.

Holly, H.A. says he doesn't know yet whether deaf senior Virginia is coming west. The lady will try to find her a home back there. If she can't, then she'll check on our status. Which will be too many dogs!, of course. But maybe a quiet girl might fit. But it'll be a month or more.

Sorry for no pictures this time! Maybe when H.A. goes to the shelter in a day or two. He wrapped 30 pounds of hamburger and hot dogs into small packages. So doggies and kitties who don't want to eat will have some real food to tempt them.  [mr_ed:  And to give meds.]

We begged and begged for some. Some of us a lot louder than others! But we didn't get any. It all goes to the shelter.

Anyway. That's all for now!

One Sinjin another doth provoke

BTW, if woo don't stop writing about him SO MUCH, we are gonna think woo really DO like HIM!!!  (Khyra)

One sin, I know, another doth provoke.  (Shakespeare, Pericles, act 1, sc. 1)

It's important that I woo out against the Human Assistant bringing dogs to the house. What if he doesn't stop?

Sinjin has only been here a week. And already H.A. is talking to people to get another one from Ohio and 20 more from New Mexico!

⇒  20!  ⇐

Then someone will come and take us all to the city pound. And then we'll all be back where we started!

So somedoggy has to chase Lucy and Sinjin outta here. And make sure the ᛒᚤᚱᛒᚤᚱᚾᚤᚺᛃ don't overwhelm us!

I have not been able to do a good job of it the past few days. I have a cough down in my chest. The dokker sent us home with Aunty Bio-Tic, who lives in a bottle. But I'm not feeling better yet. Maybe it's partly that old new monia again.

Anyway. A few days ago H.A. took us boys on a walk together. Here ya go:

Sinjin and Tucker start their walk
We're off ... what's that?
Sinjin and Tucker find snow
No sledding today!
Sinjin sniffs a pole
Hmmm....
Tucker looks over at Sinjin
Did I miss something over there?
Sinjin sniffs around pine cones
The nose knows the difference!
Sinjin and Tucker arrive home
Open the door, somebody!

More goings

Tucker:  Gremlin isn't really going to get much better. But all the medical stuff confuses me. So the Human Assistant will explain.

Gremlin
Gremlin Sweetie Pie!
mr_ed:  Gremlin's back is bad, with damaged disks and fused vertebrae and bone spurs that may be poking into the spinal cord or nerves.

This seems a likely explanation for the loss of function in her back legs.  Her hips are fine.

She's getting some pain medicine now, but our veterinarian doesn't want to risk cortisone because she has bad urinary tract and bladder infections, and cortisone would interfere with healing that.

The infections will already be hard to get rid of due to her loss of mobility and any nerve damage that might affect bladder and bowel function.

When I don't notice that she's peed on herself and is lying there wet, the infections will get worse.

Also, her kidneys are going, and her liver isn't in real good shape. And she's somewhat anemic, which the doctor thinks is due to one of the other problems - kidney decline, maybe?

Tucker:  So Gremlin is just having Old Dog Stuff. (She's almost 14.) But she's walking again. A little anyway. When there's smelly food in the kitchen, she can get up on her own and walk through two rooms to get her share.

H.A. helps her get up about half the time. Then sometimes she'll walk to the kitchen to get a drink, hop down 3 steps to go outside and pee, and sometimes she'll come back inside without help, too. Other times she lies down outside and waits for H.A. to help her up again.

It's been colder than I like out on that ground! But if H.A. forgets Gremlin, she'll just stay out there and doesn't bark like she does when she's inside and wants something. He has to count noses to make sure we all get back inside. Boy does Lucy get annoyed when he accidentally shuts her out!

Anyway. That's what's up with Gremlin.

map of Oz
The Land of Oz!
H.A. and the Ao4's human dad will bring Sinjin from Kansas on Monday.

They were all set to do it tomorrow. Which is Sunday.

But H.A. rented a van so he'd have room for two big crates.

He decided maybe Sinjin and I could get to know each other on the trip.

But tomorrow will be windy in Kansas. And the van is big and tall. Full-sized. And H.A. doesn't want us to get swept away to the Land of Oz!

So Monday it is! Unless H.A. chickens out again! He may have a looonnng trip with a couple of Grumpy Old Sibes!  Heh!

::koff koff::  Especially because my old new monia is acting up. But I'm trying to a good boy and not too grumpy!

I don't get treats when I'm grumpy!  ::Big Husky Grin::!

Random internet stuff

space warrior pretends Dachshund is rifle The Human Assistant spent too much time floating around the internet today. So he doesn't want to type my follow-up on Lucy tonight.

It will keep him up too late. Awww. Now that it's after midnight, it is officially his birthday. Friends will take him out for lunch.

But he has to be out of bed and awake for that. So he wants to go to bed "early" (for him).

So here's random stuff that he bookmarked today.

Menu Foods and PetSmart lost money in the third quarter this year. Does that mean that the third time they traded quarters this year they only got two dimes?

I don't know. But PetSmart blames it on stuff other than recalls. Heh.

The H.A. doesn't usually shop there. But so far it's the only place he's found citronella spray for breaking up dog fights. So he's done his part in supporting them, for sure!

baby seal at animal shelter
They say Siberian Huskies get lost! Here's a baby seal that wandered away from his seal-family beach party.

And ran smack into an animal shelter!

He looks unhappy. I bet he has road rash from dragging himself down the streets! He will be fixed up and taken back to the ocean. Whatever that is.

so-called pit bull
Forty-six "pit bulls" disappeared from the Memphis Animal Shelter. They say the dogs were stolen. I think they are covering up an escape!

"There were no obvious signs of a break in from the outside."

It would take one, maybe two Siberian Huskies to bust out of a place like this! Imagine if 21 adult dogs of any breed were trying to get away from 25 puppies? "Stolen," my furry white behind!

puppy asleep in food bowl
Speaking of Siberian Huskies.

Here is an itty bitty puppy guarding the food bowl. The way only puppies can. This is a puppy I could like! Too bad it isn't the red and white. Well, learn by example!

Michael Vick's former house in Virginia
Michael Vick's dog-fighting property is for sale. Again.

A developer bought it recently. He plans to tidy it up and re-sell it in a month. No doubt he is an honest and hard-working man. Earns every dollar he gets. But he's planning on profit from the property's negative fame. Wasn't that already included in the price he paid?

How much do you suppose he can mark that up?

The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 and one-half bathrooms. (Huh? Half a tub, half a sink...?) On 15 acres. If you're interested. And didn't catch the info the first 100 times it was on the news.

If you look on Google Earth you'll see the sheriff's office is nearby. That should be reassuring.

A few states have "puppy lemon laws." A few more states are thinking about them.

To me it sounds like people can get refunds if their new puppy gets into the refrigerator and eats all their lemons.

But the Human Assistant says no. The laws protect people if a new puppy is sick or gets sick right away.

My picture is here because I was sick when I came from the breed rescue. H.A. spent $600 on me the first month. Besides for food. And toys.

My vet and the H.A. think I got a pair o' sites at the rescue. Probably due to conditions there.

Then it turned into my new monia. And now symptoms come back sometimes. My vet says I may need medicine for it forever. (And the medicine controls the symptoms pretty well.)

H.A. says laws like this could be real problems for shelters and rescues if they didn't cause the animal's illness. If the law applies to them.

More information is needed. But it's something to watch for in your state!

That's all for now. H.A. must get his beauty sleep! ::Big Husky Grin::

DNF list

You may know about DNC lists and DNA lists.

"DNC" makes the Human Assistant think of Democratic National Conventions. Especially the 1968 DNC. And of the Chicago Eight.

There will be a Denver DNC. But that's next year. He has trouble thinking about next week!

And DNA lists, well.... Try Wikipedia for lists of projects that sequence genes.1  Animals are toward the bottom of the page. In case you want to check up on what it takes to make a cat or a nematode or a puffer fish.

But for most humans a DNC list is where you put your name saying DO NOT CALL !

And a DNA list is names of people where an animal shelter or rescue group says ≡ DO NOT ADOPT ≡ to these poor excuses for humans.

They may be irresponsible backyard breeders or animal abusers or sell animals for experiments. Rescue groups share these names because the people go to lots of different places to get animals.

I am starting a DNF list. But it's just for the Human Assistant.

Now that Shu Shu is gone he thinks he should bring more poor doggies here to take care of. And get in my way. And make me guard my apples.

I am strongly opposed to this idea!  No more!  We have had five foster dogs this year! That's about six too many (when you count his daughter's dog Zot)!

But as another volunteer at the MaxFund shelter said when H.A. brought home Shu Shu, I don't have that much control over what he does.

So at the very least I have a ≣ DO NOT FOSTER ! ≣ list.

It's okay for other people to foster these dogs. Just not the Human Assistant. (And probably not Minky's mom and dad. For sure not until we can get foster dog Tippy outta there!

There are two dogs on the DNF list so far. One is an Alaskan Malamute. (Like Hollybollybananafofanaboo!)

In the first place, Payton is a large male. We have one of those already thankyouverymuch.

In the second place, he is fraidy of the H.A.  Dog-dog issues are more than enough fear and loathing in Colorado.

I don't know which annoys me more. The happy face or the sad face. Both of them can just stay away!

photo of Payton by Ed MaxFund shelter's photo of Payton
Payton by mr_ed Payton's MaxFund photo
MaxFund's dog Braxton Zot the dog
Braxton's MaxFund photo Daughter's dog Zot

The second dog who can just stay away! is Braxton. He's male too. So that's a problem.

But look at his disturbing resemblance to Zot!

We finally figured out that Zot really wanted to be an only dog. It only took three trips to emergency rooms. Two of them for me.

[If you've never been in the middle of a dog fight inside a car, well, you just don't know what you're missing!  -- mr_ed]

So no more Braxton-Zots here.

Actually, the whole MaxFund zoo should just stay away. Especially now. They have kennel cough going around. A 13-year-old Gremlin and a 9-year-old former new monia patient don't need that!

But that's my ≣ Do Not Foster ! ≣ list for now.

Gotcha-versary

Quick note - the Human Assistant and I feel much better about Ringo's adoption after he met with the man on Wednesday. More in a later post.
=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=//=

Now the Human Assistant tells me I've been here a whole year ... as of last Sunday!  ::big pout::

He did nothing to let me celebrate. So today I ate three apples in a row! (Plus maybe some he didn't see.  ::Big Husky Grin::)

Here's a video of me finishing up the last one. (It was getting to be suppertime, and I didn't want to stop in the middle of eating an apple to come inside for kibble.) Don't worry, it's only 14 seconds.

Congratulate the H.A. - this is the first time he tried the "movie" option on his digital camera. Eisenstein he ain't.

I'd think he would make a big deal out of remembering when I got here and not make me just eat apples by myself to celebrate!

Thanks to me he got his daughter finally to take her dog Zot! I helped him find homes for Poo-Poo, Sally, der Jägermeister, and Mystique.

Especially Jaeger and Mystique!

Double especially Jaeger! Big black dogs are hard to find homes for. And when they're fence-jumpers, well...!

I even went to MaxFund to meet Ringo off-leash. To make sure he could come here in case there was, dog forbid, some emergency at the shelter and he had to get out of there for a while. (We ignored each other.)

So I feel underappreciated. Here I am giving Gremlin and H.A. the benefit of all my Siberianness and helping clear out the extra dogs, and I get nothing.

Okay, I don't hang out in the same room with the H.A. like when I got here. But I was really sick then. My nose was really runny. And when a running dog's nose runs, humans can't keep up with it! And I coughed and sneezed and snorted and snorkled like crazy.

The rescue said I had "old-dog cough." My vet's x-rays said pneumonia and plam ... plum...  [pulmonary eosinophilic infiltration  --  mr_ed].

That. Plus stitched-up bite wounds and sunburned fur. And I'd been moved at least 6 times.

None of which I asked for! So, yeah, I was a little clingy at first. But he should be happy that now I'm lots more independent like a healthy Sibe.

Oh, and another thing! Helping Shu Shu get adopted! A Sibe's work is never done!

Oh. H.A. says we had green tripe with breakfast. That's true.

Can we have something else stinky tomorrow? Whaddayasay, boss? More tripe? Canned fish? That mush that has to sit and de-evaporate that I might be able to get my nose into when you're distracted? Huh, huh?

::Big Husky Grin::  He's smiling - I think that's good news for the nose!

G'night!

Alien invaders

And this time I don't mean Mystique!

The Human Assistant just caught up reading his SIBERNET email and learned that poor Shelby and Maddox have wormies. Eeew, stay away from them!  ::big Husky smile::  Just kidding, gang!

The vet thinks I had some kind of parasite when I got here. He never saw it. I got it at the rescue, probably. It was a strange-sounding explanation. But he said it was the right pattern of symptoms leading up to my new monia.

On SIBERNET they're also talking about giardia. Well, I've never mentioned Timber before. She was here before my time. But she must have lived on her own in the mountains for months. And when she was rescued she had two kinds of parasites. Giardia and some other creepy slithery thing. But she got treated for them before she came here to live with Gremlin and the H.A.

So parasites happen.

Time for a more fun topic!

My other posts haven't had links to Gremlin's dogster page. This is H.A.'s fault. It has to be because he does the typing. So he will go back and add links as he adds tags to the posts. (Only Blogger calls them labels.)

If you look at my dogster page you'll see H.A. finally put a bunch of photos on it. Some of them have been in the blog before because he had already cropped and tweaked them.

(I thought it was ears that got cropped. And tweaking sounds like something you do to tweaky toys. But that's what H.A. said.)

He says he has lots more pictures of me he can put on dogster. But they have to be cropped and tweaked first. And it looks like a ton of them show Mystique trying to play with me.  ::scowl::  They're from when she lived with H.A.'s buddy and we would go visit her.

I didn't mind her so much then. I played with her a little because it was just for a while and then we would go home. But H.A. took a gazillion pictures. I look pretty good in lots of them. But Mystique is also in them! And she looks just a little too darned cute! So the pictures shouldn't be on my dogster page!

(Okay, so Mystique really is an alien invader!)

Our dogster pages have links to each other. Like to Mutzger, who was here before anybody else but Gremlin. H.A. got puppy Mutzger and puppy Gremlin at the same time more than 13 years ago.

But anyway. All the other doggies that have lived with H.A. can be seen from my dogster page. There have been nine of us in just four years! I mentioned five in yesterday's blog. They were the guest doggies.

Plus Mutzger and Timber, and Gremlin and me. The H.A. was really surprised when he counted us all up. But now he's made sure that each of us has at least a few pictures on a page all our own.

Everydoggie should have a dogster page, I think!

Komment ketchup

Minky, the Human Assistant emailed the questions to your mom! We'll watch your dogster page for the answers!

Holly, if I could be taste tester I would be sure to bring some home every day for my dogfriends like you!

Sky, thanks again for the questions! Say woo! to KA for me!

Maddox, please tell Shelby I will come up with some questions and have the H.A. post them on your blog for her!

And thanks for making sure Mystique hasn't come back!

We don't actually know how she's doing. Not that I care. But she was a cute little stinker. Not like in that picture up in the corner where she has her mouth closed. I never saw her with her mouth closed! Maybe she shut it when she was asleep. But that was the only time I could rest, too.

Her family's trial adoption was for around two weeks. It's been close to three weeks, so H.A. emailed them. But he hasn't got a reply. So he asked MaxFund to call them and find out what's up.

H.A. says I've been happier than he's ever seen me. I'm bouncier and more playful and talkative. And I've been here almost a year. Of course, I had a new monia when I got here. So I wasn't very happy then.

[Like Worf, he was not a Merry Man  -- mr_ed]

But this is the first time in all that time that nodoggy is here except who belongs here. So H.A. better not bring home anydoggy else!

Not only that. I have not felt too good the last two days. I hear that it's a bad allergy time. After my new monia and ummm ... [pulmonary eosinophilic infiltration  -- mr_ed] ... yeah, that, sometimes I sneeze and cough and stuff. Probably allergy thingies in the air make it worse.

And when I have this problem, other doggies really, really bug me. Tuesday Gremlin was just lying there. She was about five feet away from where I was lying. She wasn't doing anything, but she bugged me. I barked at her.

The Human Assistant said not to do that, so I waited a minute. Then I barked at her again. He told me to stop it! So I waited and barked again. H.A. got up and went outside to distract me, and it worked.

But one time when we went outside, Gremlin was too close behind me. I turned around and was starting a fight with her. But H.A. said to stop it! I wasn't really in the mood for a fight anyway. So I stopped it and we went outside.

Anyway. I don't want more dogs here. And H.A. thinks it wouldn't be good for them to be here either. He says Gremlin is no bother. If I can't get along with her, then there's no hope.

I know he thinks he may sneak one in here once the cold kills all the allergy thingies. Maybe another older doggie who just lies around all day. But that's pretty much what Gremlin and I do, too. So I don't think so. Unless it stayed in a crate or a closed room all the time. [Or Tucker did  -- mr_ed]

The Human Assistant is sad he can't bring more friends home. But I don't think it would work.

Diane (Kolfinna the Berserker), thanks for visiting! H.A. says Leif Erikson Day snuck up on him this year. But he'll be spreading the word next year! Come visit us again! I love visitors!

Time to rest my new monia. Which is getting pretty old. I hope that H.A. snuck me a pregnazone pill in the treats! I don't like pills, but he can hide it pretty well. And it does make me feel better.

An apple a day

The Human Assistant has been icky-sick for a day. I think he ate a bad apple. He found out from the Army of Four blog that some animals snuggle with their humans to make them feel better (like Sitka and Tia do). Hmmph!

Ignoring that.... A few days ago H.A. picked up all the apples that were on the ground. He kept a few of them for himself. Gremlin and I can get our own because more keep falling down. But we still stare at him while he cuts up his apples until he gives us pieces.

Anyway, H.A. says he forgets that apples from trees don't last as long as apples from stores. So he may not have gotten around to that apple soon enough.

He wishes he had a dog stomach. He says we have tons more acid in our tummies than humans do. So icky things don't make us sick as often.

But dogs shouldn't eat "herbal ecstacy." The athlete drug police say athletes can't have any. But somebody gave some to this greyhound. All you sled dogs out there - don't take BZP!

Here's another tip. Wearing a dog collar can make you get attacked more! It's true! This story only mentions people wearing dog collars. But wouldn't it apply to dogs too? I would think so.

I need to sleep now. I guess it's allergy season. My breathing parts have been stressed the last few days even though H.A. says he's sneaking me my medicine. Happy dreams, everydoggy!
