Why don't you just shut up?

I get to do a post too!  Me me me!  (That's me me me, Sinjin!)

A year ago today one famous important guy said to another famous important guy,  "¿Por qué no te callas?"

Tucker and I say that to each other all the time!
- ¿Por qué no te callas?
- ¿Por qué no te callas?
- No, .
- No, ¡!
And sometimes, actually a lot of times, I say to him,  "Do you want me to pee on you?"  because he's always lying in the way and won't let me out.
- Look, I have to go.
- ¿Por qué no te callas?
- For a while now, I have needed to go to the bathroom, and I am going to pee ... Do you want me to pee on you?
- ¿Por qué no te callas?
- ¿Por qué no te callas?
- No, .
- No, ¡!
Sinjin gives his views
Bark bark bark bark bark!
Then the Big Guy finally gets up and gets Tucker to move.

Or else he walks with me to get around Tucker.

It's good to know that famous important guys have these same problems and have worked out how to deal with them!

Alizé's on vacation

Alizé looks for dropped food
Nope - no food left
Alizé sniffs at the fridge
What's in the fridge?
Alizé gives up
Sigh....
Last week the Big Guy took Alizé for a ride ... and didn't bring her back!

Heyo!  Sinjin here with the news!

I thought Alizé got into so much trouble that B.G. got really mad and got rid of her. Tucker told about some of the problems she caused. But he forgot to mention that Alizé got into a tub of our joint-supplement chewies and ate about 50 of them.

At least, we think she did. B.G. thought the tubs were indestructible, but Alizé chewed off the lid. There was no sign of the chewies that were inside. He gave her stuff that made her barf a couple of times, but only her supper came out, which was kinda weird.

So he gave me the same stuff, three times! But I refused to barf. Nope, just didn't wanna do it. Besides, I didn't eat the stupid chewies!

Then a couple of days later Alizé chewed the covers off of a paperback book about jazz. Now, I know that B.G. was unhappy about that! But wait, there's more! The next day she found his postcard collection in the garage!

She made a lot of noise getting to them because the garage is full of junk and it's almost like everything is booby-trapped. So B.G. got up to see what she was doing, and he saw her with postcards in her mouth, and he took them from her. Next day, repeat.

So he loaded her into the Jeep and off they went!

But the Big Guy said that he just took her to a place where she'll get attention all 24 hours a day without him having to wake up every two hours. They'll make her diabetes better, so I guess she's on vacation! And then they'll spray her so she's not a girl anymore. That must be a pretty powerful spray!

Oh ... they'll spay her. Well I don't know what that means, but it doesn't sound like as fun a vacation as it could be.

We haven't heard how she's doing, but the dog lady at the MaxFund shelter says no news is good news. B.G. says that's a  He-pissed-'em-all  Ojji-cal  fallacy. I say, gimme a treat!

Oh ... those pictures at the beginning. Alizé was snarfing her food and then coming over to snag what I spilled while I was eating. I told her to stop, I'd get to it when I was done with what was in my bowl, but she was ducking down and getting under me and just being really disruptive.

So she got a special bowl that slows her down. It works, too! Then the Big Guy bought one for Tucker, who is more than disruptive when he inhales his food and comes over to my bowl. He just pushes me aside. Poor widdle me!

But now everything's good. Everything about keeping Alizé and Tucker out of my bowl is good, anyway. And that's a good start!

The real #300

This is the real post #300. That's because it's Tucker's blog! And Tucker's blog started with post #2! (To paraphrase Tucker.)

Hey-o! Sinjin here! A couple of weird things happened today.

Some kind of car or truck zipped past our house with its siren going. No, that's not very weird. But out in the garage, somedoggy started howling with the siren! And somedoggy else woood just a little.

Now according to the Big Guy, he's never had a doggy sing with sirens, so I don't know who was out in our garage! I do know that Tucker and Alizé weren't in the house with me!

Sometimes at night you can hear sirens go down the highway that's about a mile down the hill from our house. Then you can hear Yip! yip! yip! from the creek that's next to the highway and also from across the hill about a mile away.

BG says that they're coyotes, which are like wolves, which are like dogs. He says wolves howl, so why don't coyotes howl? Maybe they're not so much like dogs as he thinks.

Hey! Maybe there were coyotes in our garage and they really howled! You think? Or maybe it was a couple of visiting wolves! Oooh!

Let's see. What was the other weird thing? Siren, howl, woo, yip, coyotes, wolves.... I dunno, I can't remember.

Maybe next time, huh? Bye for now!

MaxFund swag, 2

Здесь Синджин.  I mean, is Sinjin here!    The rest of us doggies get to do a couple of posts because Tucker (Таккер) went on a long ride with the Big Guy yesterday.

He came back looking and smelling funny. Maybe he finally went to see Diane the Doggroomer! A friend came over today and said, "Oh, Tucker, aren't you byooteefull!"  Heehee!

Awhile back, the Big Guy used a photo of Lucy counter surfing as his avatar on the online forum for MaxFund volunteers.

It looked like Lucy might have been washing dishes, so one silly volunteer asked whether Lucy does windows. Well. Remember when Lucy licked the piano?

Much later the B.G. got a couple of pictures of her licking door jam. It wasn't on the door, though. It was on the wall. So he posted one of those pictures and said that Lucky did walls.

Back to current events. After B.G. posted the first water bottle pictures to the MaxFund forum, the silly volunteer asked whether Tucker and I do windows.

And this was his reply:
Sinjin - Do you do windows?
Tucker - Windows I don't.  Doors.
Sinjin - You do doors well!  Nodoggy can get through you!
Tucker blocking Lucy in garage Tucker blocking doorway in garage
Tucker - Is hard work.  Must rest often.  Drink often.
Sinjin - From your MaxFund water bottle?
Tucker - Yes.  MaxFund.
Sinjin - I do windows!
Tucker - Doing how?
Sinjin with mouth open at window Sinjin with tongue out at window
Sinjin - Breathe on, lick.  Wipe with nose.
Sinjin in window, head to his right Sinjin in window, head to his left Sinjin in window, head to his right again Sinjin in window, head to his left again
Tucker - Thirsty work.
Sinjin - I must drink often from my MaxFund bottles!
Tucker - Yes.  MaxFund.
Sinjin - I'll trade you these two soft, chewy bottles for that hard one!
Tucker - Hmmm.
Sinjin with two water bottles Tucker looking at new water bottle
Sinjin - They're older.  No telling what stinky stuff is inside!
Tucker - Yes.  Stinky.

Tucker smiling at camera
Tucker - I will keep shiny new bottle!
Come to think of it, Таккер the saber-claw has shorter tootsienails now, too!

Closing Pandora's box

Sinjin here!

Okay, so Lucy won't be going to live with Wally the Corgi. His family's concerned about Wally getting into that pond, which would be not good at all!

The Big Guy suggested filling it with sand and a rock or two, à la karesansui (which Wikipedia's article says is "sometimes mistakenly called a Zen garden" ... by the Big Guy, for example!  ).

But this is no good either because the family wants a moving-water pond, and they just installed it last year.

Even as I dictate this to BG, I can hear Sibe people clucking their tongues and even laughing. Gardens (and the landscaping in general) belong to dogs, and people are only occasionally allowed to work in them!

Badger Hound

I think maybe these low-slung dogs (and Wally is lower to the ground than the one in the picture) could be kept out by a low barrier. A Wally Wall!    And unlike hounds that go digging into tunnels to chase badgers (which you can see cute pictures of here, here, and no doubt elsewhere), Wally probably wouldn't be a risk for digging under the wall.

So now comes the question: Will Wally stay out of the pond now that he's seen Lucy in there?

Hope so!

Lucy's bad example

photo of Corgi from Wikipedia
Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Sinjin here!

We need to change the name of this blog!

How about, "Sinjin Lets Tucker Talk Back!"  ::Arr arr::

I'll admit that I went grazing in Lucy's and Gremlin's dinner bowls, and the Big Guy surprised me, and I swung around real fast, and Lucy got a bit excited about that.

Well, hey. It happens.

I'm not for-sure certain that Lucy bit Tucker, though. Maybe she snagged him with a claw. (Or, as Agent 86 would say, a craw.) But as Tucker would say, Anyway....

Hey ... does that dog in the picture up there look like a herding dog to you? The breed comes from Wales, and that's what it's supposed to be! Maybe the pre-Celtic Welsh had armadillo ranches, or something!

Okay. But! Does it look like a water dog?  These are water dogs:

Lucy went to visit a family that might be interested in adopting her. She and the Big Guy met Wally (like the Corgi up top) and his mom, and then they went to their house and met the dad and daughter.

What a great place! Too bad BG forgot he had his camera in the car!

The house is next to a lake, and Lucy watched ducks swimming around! Their fence is only 3 feet high, and Lucy stood up and put her paws on the top rail. She probably wouldn't jump over, but that's a bit of a question.

Then when she ran ran ran from the fence back to the house, she was so happy to be stretching her legs! And she rolled and rolled in the grass! It was like all those happy photos in her dogster portfolio!

And then...!

The family has an itty-bitty pond about 5 or 6 feet across. Lucy just waded right in! The scene looked just like that Flat-Coat in the picture just above here! (Except for not being as large a pond.) Water up to her tummy and everything!

And then...!

Lucy walked on out of the pond, and Wally started to walk right in! If they'd let him, he'd have looked like a submarine with legs! If you could've seen him, but you couldn't have because he would've been all the way under the water with no periscope. That wouldn't have been good! Although maybe, if he could keep his eyes above water, he'd look like a Corgidile!

Wally's mom said he had never tried to go into their pond before!

Was Lucy being a bad role model, or what? Later she waded through the pond again, and Wally tried to go again, and his mom stopped him again. Poor little guy! Led astray by a female!!!

The family wants a companion for Wally. They said he doesn't really pal around with other dogs, but they don't want him to feel lonely while they're away from the house. Well, I'd say he was kind of interested in palling around with Lucy. Not tons. Not like he wanted to play with her. But he did follow her around some and ran across the yard behind her.

Lucy was the Ice Maiden, like always. "Oh, hello little doggy. Nice to meet you." Then off she goes. So that may not be enough palling around to suit the family. Plus, there's the fence. And the dad doesn't really want another dog.

So, who knows what will happen? The BG was a little worried about the fence. He's not sure how Lucy will deal with ducks and geese once she gets used to the idea of them being there. Watch them? Chase them? Jump the fence? Dig under it or push through? It's not a super-sturdy setup.

We'll have to wait and see.

Speaking of MaxFund foster dogs ... and Tucker doesn't know yet and you didn't hear it from me ... Simon.  Shhh!

Counter-counter-surfing

I notice that Tucker didn't tell what happened after the Big Guy put hamburger in our dinner bowls!

Well.

The Guy had to go to another room for a minute and leave out on the counter the rest of the 5 pounds of burger, which was for MaxFund dogs, plus the grease he poured into a bowl. When BG came back, guess who had his paws on the counter?

(Hint: His name starts with T and ends with ER and has UCK in the middle!)

The BG thought he was eating the MaxFund hamburger, so he swooped in and told that other dog to get down. But as it happens, he wasn't eating hamburger ... he was drinking grease!

BG said, "That's a different story. Okay. Go ahead and do it some more and let me take your picture." To give Tucker credit, he rarely rarely counter-surfs, so there aren't any pictures of him doing it. And BG has felt like a second-class Siberian person without any pictures of us counter-surfing!

That is, of Tucker counter-surfing. I, of course, am too mature for that sort of thing.

But would Tucker put his paws on the counter again? No-sir-ee-bob. He looked at BG. He looked at the counter. He looked at BG. He sat. He must have been thinking, "Look, I'm sitting! Give me some!" BG walked into the next room again to tempt Tucker. Tucker just sat there. See that big grin on his face?

I went in and sniffed at the counter. It smelled pretty good! But I didn't get up there into the other doggies' stuff. And I don't mean just the meat. BG was saving the grease to put on Lucy's kibble on days when she dilly-dallies around and doesn't get started on her food until we're already done. Even Gremlin's willing to eat Lucy's food for her. With a little added burger flavor on it, Lucy doesn't stand around and wait to dig in.

In fact, Lucy tried to get at the stuff on the counter. But I don't think she was q..u..i..t..e tall enough to get into it. But I'm not sure. But then! Who should come snuffling around like a roly poly bear stocking up for a long, lean winter?

I'd leave it to your imagination, but in fact there is photographic evidence:

Tucker sits in front of the counter
Not while you're watching!
Sinjin looks at the counter
Smells good!
Lucy checks the counter
Yum!
Tucker looks up at the counter
He's out of the room, now....

BUSTED

!!!

By the way, Tucker, I noticed that you also didn't mention that bite on your ear. You sure showed Lucy who's the boss of her dinner bowl!

Nyuk nyuk nyuk!

Take nothing for granite

Sinjin here! Awhile back Tucker mentioned that the weather had gone from 74° to snowing in less than a day.

Well, I can beat that!

Tuesday it was  82° ... and look what happened on Wednesday!

Lucy and Sinjin look west
Is that west-side neighborcat?
Tucker nibbles on grass
Big sprouts!
Lucy lies calmly
How do you spell Sfinks?

Stuff like this didn't happen in Indianapolis! I don't remember it happening, anyway. But I'm 13, you know, and sometimes I'm not sure about my memory. (The trouble is, I don't remember whether there are things I should remember and don't.)

But regardless, this place has crazy weather! I hope it snows in the summer, too! The Big Guy took more pictures after these. We'll update you next time. It was still snowing at midnight, but not hard. The snow is melting on the streets and sidewalks, so it probably won't stick around after it stops.

You sure can't count on anything!

One day it's summer, the next day it's winter.

One day Anthropogenius Global Warming wins prizes, the next day Canada gets socked with the most snow in I-don't-know-how-long.

One day the Big Guy is emailing a potential adopter that "Lucy is the sweetest dog [he's] ever had," the next day she attacks Tucker!

At least I think she did....

I didn't see how it started, but I'm pretty sure Tucker tried to munch out of Lucy's supper bowl.

Wooo-wee was she mad! The BG pulled Tucker away, and Lucy kept coming after him! BG had on his high-top leather boots, so he kept Lucy away with his foot until she calmed down.

Yessireebob, we've had some excitement around here! I'm resting up, curled up under the comptuer desk while BG finishes typing. Then I think it'll be time to move to the bedroom to rest up some more.

Who knows what tomorrow may bring!

Cold, hard light of day

Oh, I didn't realize I wrote so much my last time. No wonder the Big Guy took so long to type it! Sorry, everybody!

Minky, Diane didn't dunk me in hot oil because, like the BG said, my fur was already fried!  Hee hee hee!

And I'm not a Pomeranian, so she couldn't make Poms frites!!!  Hee hee!

Moving right along (do they change your oil every 3,000 feet? )....

Yesterday Tucker posted pictures of snow falling Wednesday night. Here it is, still falling, in the cold, hard light of the next day. Except that Friday and Saturday weren't all that cold, and today it may get up to 60°, so the snow's all gone now. Click for bigger pictures:

Wish you were here!

Yes, there's some kind of blur in the pictures, probably on the lens. The BG is looking into that. Hope he doesn't accidentally set off the flash when his face is so close to the camera! If he takes a picture of his eyeball, I'll post it here!

The All-new Sinjin

Sinjin here! Check this out:

Sinjin from front after grooming
Can you tell a difference?
Sinjin from back after grooming
How about now?

The Big Guy has been working on photos, so he hasn't really had time to post. I know, Tucker doesn't really think that's a good excuse. Maybe Tucker should go on a hunger strike!

Also, B.G. has been figuring out Photobucket and Picasa. Listen, if anydoggy knows how to put the same tag on a bunch of photos at the same time in Picassa, let him know. He uploaded 32 photos and put Sametag#1 on all 32, one by one. Then Sametag#2 on each of the 32.

Then Sametag#3 on half of them. Then Sametag#4 on the other half.... The more time he spends on baloney like that, the less time he has for typing. And you know what that means!

(You do, don't you? It means shorter, fewer blogs. Like this week!)

So Friday was my day to visit Diane the groomer. The B.G. did his "I'm leaving" routine, and Tucker did his "The Human Assistant's leaving" routine. He (that is, Tucker) wooos and hops up and down and generally gets all excited and annoying.

When B.G. does the final getting-ready step, which is putting jangly things in his front-left pocket and a black, square-ish nylon thing in his back-left pocket, Tucker runs to his crate and wooos some more. Then B.G. opens two packages of chewy treats, and Tucker runs from the crate to the kitchen to check on B.G., then back to his crate, then back to the kitchen.... Good grief!

Well, so B.G. opened two packages of treats, which amounts to four treats, but he didn't give me one! Instead, he snapped on my leash, and for a minute there I forgot about the treat. So did Lucy. She came running to the door and wanted to go for a ride too. I was about to go get her treat, but B.G. sorta had things under control, including me.

So he and I got in the Jeep. He has to help me up, which I don't like very much so I have to snarl and yelp and whatnot. We went for a ride. Then we parked and walked down an alley and back, and I peed here and there and stared at this one dog that acted like it wanted to chew through its fence and start something. Then we went into Diane's salon.

Well, B.G. left! Diane gave me a bath, which was pretty nice. Then she used this really loud fan, and that was okay. Then she put me on this table that lifts up away from the floor and I got scared and peed on her. And a little on me, so I got another bath.

She got me on that table again and started combing and brushing and combing me. Lots! All over! Well, that was enough of that! So I wiggled and squirmed and tried to get away, but I couldn't because Diane had straps around me and stuff. I made it as hard as possible to keep combing, but she kept combing, so I kept moving around and trying to get away.

Finally she was done and she put me back on the solid floor. She has some funny crates in her salon that are solid on all sides except the front. The biggest one's door wasn't quite closed all the way, so I nudged it open and went in and flopped down.

Finally B.G. came back, smelling like he ate some chicken and salad stuff, and Diane asked him if I hang out in crates at home. Well of course not! At home when he wants to comb me, I wiggle around and get away from him. And when he puts the comb away and sits down at the computer or goes outside or whatever, then I follow him around.

Well, I guess I do hang out under the computer desk when he's there. Diane's crate reminded me of that except that the computer desk doesn't have a door, and B.G. wasn't sitting next to Diane's crate. But it's pretty much the same otherwise.

I was sure tired, let me tell you! And for some reason the B.G. lifted and pushed me into the Jeep even harder than before, and I liked it even less than before. But then we came home and I spent a lot of time resting up from all that standing and wiggling around. I almost missed nighttime treat time because I was so tired and was sacked out in the bedroom. But B.G. brought me a nice smelly little chewy thing and said to come to the kitchen and get more medi-treats.

I still had enough energy to spit pills out, so I went out to the kitchen to see whether we were getting them in turkey slices or in peanut butter. I don't like the peanut butter very much, and more pills seem to slip past me when we have it.

But it was turkey and I spit out the medicine three times and then decided I should go outside because B.G. looked like he was gonna shove the pills down my throat again. But surprise! He just told me I was a good boy and that we were all done. That was kinda weird, but oh well.

The peanut butter might be helping my coat somewhat. It (my coat, that is) was brittle and wiry along my backbone when I came here. I also get a tiny pill to help my thyroid, and that might be helping my coat too. But after the bath and brushing, the B.G. says it feels softer than ever. So that's good that he's happy with it, anyway. I didn't mind the bath at all, but if I have to get brushed and combed to keep the coat soft, then I say that brittleness is the new black.

But whatever. I heard B.G. setting up a grooming session for Tucker for next Friday. That'll be interesting!

Papa Rottsie has covered every angle of the Tucker issue for over a year, and he's never seen anything like this before!

At no other time has Tucker been known to lie on his back!

Many thought Tucker couldn't do it!

And that was before he got so round!

What kept him from rolling on over?

Having a new route(r) without kids

Sinjin and internet router
"Reporting from the Internet!"
Sinjin here!

Reporting from the drop, the place at the end of the fiber-optic cable where the rubber (or whatever) meets the road (or internet highway).

I made Tucker let me blog because he's jumped me a few times and knocked me on my back and made me screech.

The Big Guy says Tucker doesn't feel so good lately because he took T-Bob off Prednisone. Does he ever get crabby! (Tucker, that is.)

But Tucker said for me to go ahead and blog, he doesn't care. (::sulk sulk::) So I am.

A few days ago the internet stopped working. Big Guy thought he hadn't paid the bill, so he hurried up and called them and paid it over the phone. (Thank dog the phones haven't been shut off!)

But that wasn't it. So he used his rusted-out skills as a former networks taker-care-of-person and figured out that our router was kinda broken.

The power supply fell apart before I came here. But somedoggy (♮ ♩ ♫  T, U, C ... See you real soon!  K, E, R ....  ) musta stepped on it or rolled on it or somehow broke a wire.

(The wi-fi antenna was also chewed up, but it still worked.)

old router and power supply
Busted wire, pathetic antenna.
broken wire and worn antenna
See

Now if one of his kids had been here, they coulda just soldered the wire back on! They're studying electronics for their job, and soldering is one of their classes right now.

Well, the Big Guy took the dead router outta there and tried to go straight from the cable modem to the computer. Nothin'. Rebooted the computer. More nothin'.

Not nothin' exactly, but not internet either. Iceweasel (which is Debian's version of Firefox ... it's a long story) kept saying it couldn't find any of the servers for the websites we wanted to see.

So B.G. grumbled and mumbled and went and bought a new router. It's behind me in that first picture up there, still in its box.

When he got home, he talked to his other kid (who was just a computer taker-care-of-person and is now a computer-and-networks taker-care-of-person), who told him all he needed to do was reboot the cable modem.

DOH!

Well ha, ha. It still didn't work. So he rebooted the computer again and now everything worked. Without the new router, even.

mr_ed:  A free tip on how to be your own computer-and/or-networks taker-care-of-person, retail value in the hundreds of dollars:
Turn the power off;
Wait 10 seconds;
Turn the power on.

By non-actual count, this makes 85% of all computer-and/or-network problems go away. It's the first and most valuable lesson in all online and correspondence courses for becoming computer-and/or-networks taker-care-of-people.

The fancy new router is still sitting in its unopened plastic-wrapped box. B.G. thinks maybe the next time the second kid comes over, he'll twist an arm or two and get a free installation.

We'll see!
