Payton, Sequoia, Zena

ADOPTED!
Sequoia
ADOPTED!
Zena
ADOPTED!

✔  Payton had been on trial adoption. His humans went to MaxFund last Thursday and made it permanent!

✔  Sequoia was busy late last week!  She was adopted, returned ("Doesn't get along with other dogs") and adopted again!

Whew!

Now she's an only dog. She has an 8-foot fence and humans who are experienced with Husky mixes. Her new mom runs 5 miles a day. Well, that's a start...!

✔  Zena did some moving around too!  She had been in the MaxFund office where all the visitors could see her. But nothing happened!  So about a week ago she went into a foster home.

Then over this last weekend she got adopted!  This wasn't a fast foster failure. Some entirely different humans got her. What a lucky dog to finally have people interested in her!

Speaking of lucky....

It's a good thing I have this blog! The Human Assistant went to the shelter on Monday and again spent some time with Caesar, the big Akita.

Gave him a Milk-Bone from the house!  Tossed his stuffed Santa. Played grab-paw with him. Scratched his fur and got his face washed.

Then he said to a MaxFund person, "I sure wish I could take Caesar!"

They said, "You can!"

H.A. said, "Huh uhh, he's an Akita and doesn't get along with other dogs."

They said, "Caesar's an Akita that gets along with other dogs!

"Except maybe Tucker. Caesar likes girl dogs and submissive dogs."

So he says, "Tucker's not aggressive, but he's not exactly submissive either. Maybe I could bring Tucker here and trade him for Caesar!"

And they wisely pointed out, "No, because then Tucker wouldn't have help with his blog."

Whew!

Not that H.A. would seriously trade me for another dog. I mean, I'm a Siberian Husky! He wouldn't want an Akita, would he?

Lucy is fine

dogs Zena and Lucy At the moment, Lucy is gnawing on a Nylabone.

She got it from the toy pile.

Which nodoggy else bothers with.

Gremlin and I just like stuffed toys.

But the Human Assistant doesn't like me hogging them. Something about me growling and snapping when other dogs come near.

He gave one to Lucy a couple of days ago. Within five minutes she was pulling out the stuffing. So he took it away from her. But it fell off the refrigerator this morning, and I got it! When H.A. realized I had it ... and was pulling out even more stuffing ... he took it.

Which I wasn't happy about. I didn't want to give it to him! But I did, and I got a treat. So it worked out sorta okay.

Anyway, he's glad that Lucy takes stuff out of the toy pile. He's frustrated that nodoggy since Mystique likes the toys. Mostly Lucy only grabs one and prances around with it when he comes home.

But even that little bit makes him happy. Which I suspect she knows. I don't have to resort to such tricks! I'm lovable just the way I am!

Lucy sleeps on the bed with the Human Assistant. Except when I go to bed first and decide I don't want to leave just because H.A. comes in to lie down. It doesn't leave much room for Spaniels. But that isn't very often.

I don't know why Lucy doesn't wake him up in the morning. When it's obviously time for breakfast, I have to go in and bark and woo. And she still doesn't do anything to help! But hey - she makes sure that she eats!

Saturday night H.A. thought I was being too crabby. So when Lucy wanted to get around me and I started snarling and snapping at her, he sprayed us with citronella. It always makes me forget what we were arguing about.

Anydoggy who says that Lucy will stay here permanently ... I'll send the H.A. with his spray so you'll forget what we're arguing about!  ::big Husky grin::

By the way, Zena went to a foster home today. A foster home that's not my home! So I don't have to deal with her and Lucy and Gremlin.

So that's all that's been going on at the house. I think H.A.'s been at MaxFund every day this week. It really cuts down on activity here. For me, anyway. Since he sticks me in a crate.

I can tell when he's getting ready to go, of course. Then when he gets out the special crate-only treats, I go running into the living room into my crate. I hop from one paw to the other and woo.

If he takes too long I run back into the kitchen and howl at him and then run back to the crate so I don't miss out.

He starts laughing and it slows him down. Today he was such a slowpoke that I had to run back to hurry him up twice! Waddaya gonna do with humans?

Houseguest V

Well.  The Human Assistant took Lucy to MaxFund on Tuesday. But he forgot to take her into the shelter!

His memory is worse than Jason Bourne's! H.A. said once that he interviewed with the NSA. But he won't say whether they hired him. Hmmm.

Anyway. He put Lucy and Zena together in the rehab yard at MaxFund. Lucy's owners said she didn't do well with their other dogs. But I guess today there wasn't any "chick fight," as male humans sometimes say.

H.A. said something about getting together a dark-haired Lucy and a and light-haired Zena. But I didn't understand. It didn't sound like he was talking about dogs ... fortunately!

Lucy and I had more adventures today. But H.A. needs his beauty sleep. More next time!

(I'm pretty sure he'll want to keep blogging about Lucy. Keep your paws crossed!)

dog Zena #1503 dog Zena #1501 I knew it!

I knew it would happen, I said it would happen, and it happened!

By the way, pictures of Sequoia and Zena are on the MaxFund website now.

Those photos are here on the blog with the kind permission of MaxFund's volunteer photographer, Nicole Howard

[And through the hard, time-consuming work of the Human Assistant  -- mr_ed]

::lip curl::

Ol' H.A., here, went to the MaxFund shelter on Friday. He "wanted to take pictures of Zena."

Here they are. Not very good photography.

And I saw the others - they're worse! He says the camera isn't focusing right. Mmmhmm.

He took some half-way okay pictures of Sequoia on Sunday. And some not-so-good ones Wednesday.

Maybe he dropped the camera in between.

Anyway. Friday, he takes some pictures of Zena. When he leaves the shelter, he comes straight home.

(Usually he stops for supper at a Village Inn. But that's a blog for another time. Hopefully. If there is another time.)

Lucy rolling on the grass And why didn't he stop at a Village Inn?

Because it was too cold to leave Lucy in the car!

Anydoggy who didn't see this coming, go to your crate for time out.

H.A. took lots of pictures of Lucy by herself. Why? She wasn't a foster. She isn't a Siberian Husky.

He took pictures of me and Lucy. Now why would he do that?

And before all that, he stuck her MaxFund photo on the blog!

So now Lucy is here.

[Only for the weekend  -- mr_ed]

Riiight. Sure. Mmmhmm. We'll see what happens. I'm sure he'll be taking pictures. If he can get away from her climbing on him and kissing him.

Stupid Spaniels. Gee, their ears look like nice chew toys...!
